Michael Compitiello

Bio:
With over 35 years of combined experience in the Federal Government, our private investigation team is led by Michael Compitiello. Michael has an impressive background in law enforcement. He began his career in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as part of a rescue squadron, participating in numerous air rescue missions. Notably, he received personal recognition for his contributions to the Hurricane Andrew Relief and Storm of the Century missions.

For 26 years, Michael served as a Senior Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Homeland Security Investigations (DHS/HSI). During his tenure, he played a crucial role in enforcing and prosecuting federal immigration laws, apprehending war crimes violators, and fugitives from justice. Michael specialized in investigating and prosecuting a wide range of cases, including large-scale fraud rings, narcotics, financial crimes, international money laundering (Kleptocracy), national security, and human trafficking.

Within DHS/HSI, Michael demonstrated exceptional leadership by creating and managing a Document Benefit Fraud Task Force and supervising the operations of the Human Trafficking Task Force. He also oversaw the International Narcotics Trafficking Group at Miami International Airport. Additionally, he represented the U.S. delegation in South Africa at the Global Forum for international money laundering.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Michael was bestowed with the HSI Director’s Award for Excellence in Investigations, highlighting his leadership in a significant fraud conspiracy investigation involving over 200 criminal targets in South Florida. He was also honored as a recipient of the INS Commissioner’s Award.

Due to his expertise, Michael has been called upon to testify in federal district court on numerous occasions regarding U.S. Code Title 8 (immigration and nationality law) and U.S. Code Title 18 (federal criminal offenses). He has also shared his knowledge as a guest instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and as a speaker at various universities, providing insights on student visa compliance. Additionally, he has contributed to ICEF Monitor, an intelligence resource for the international education industry.

Throughout his career, Michael has fostered strong connections within the law enforcement community, building lasting relationships with federal, state, and local officials and agencies. His reputation among fellow law enforcement professionals is highly regarded across the United States.
